Our History

Qualified Benefits Consultants, Inc. was founded in St. Louis, MO in 1981. Since that time, Qualified Benefits Consultants or QBC has specialized in the consulting and administration for employer sponsored retirement plans. 

In the early 1990s, QBC foresaw the necessity for independent transaction processing due to the expansion of self-directed 401(k) plans. That was the start of QBC’s wholly owned subsidiary The401kStore.com, Inc. which was also QBC's identity on the web to provide multi-fund, daily access for 401(k) participants. 

Although 401(k) Plans have become very prevalent in our business, our service areas are very diverse and continue to broaden, including Defined Benefit actuarial services, 401(k) recordkeeping, and 403(b) and 457 Plan administration. Due to the various plan types that we service, the need for a unifying name and mission became apparent.

The name Ekon Benefits was selected to unify our service lines under a common name and message. Ekon, meaning trust in Polish, speaks to our founder’s ancestry, as well as our goal of being your trusted partner for your retirement plan administration and consulting.
